Art is process.

I’d rather know how we want to feel while making a record than how we want the final product to sound. Digital vs Analog, Live vs Edited, Isolation vs Bleed, Electric vs Acoustic, Improvised vs Composed, Performed vs Programmed, Ensemble vs Overdubs: These common dichotomies don't represent a result as much as they describe different ways of creating. We too often confuse the ends with the means. Maybe the outcome is just as opaque to the artist as the act of making will be to the listener: So let's put our experience as creators first.
